About CERBOF

Research and innovation in collaboration with the Energy Agency

CERBOF - the Centre for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Built Environment - is a research and innovation programme, initiated by the Swedish Energy Agency. The Agency runs CERBOF in collaboration with various partners in the construction sector.

IQ Samhällsbyggnad - the Association for Innovation and Quality in the Built Environment - provides CERBOF with administrative office services.

Objectives

CERBOF's vision is efficient and sustainable exploitation of energy and resources in the construction sector, as well as buildings with high quality indoor environment. CERBOF's mission is to be the primary forum where the public sector, the private sector, the academic community and the end-users meet to catalyze relevant research and innovation projects. CERBOF's activities are to be conducive to the commercialisation of research findings and results. Supported research, development and demonstration shall contribute towards the attainment of national energy and environment objectives, as well as towards the strengthening of the competitiveness of Swedish trade and industry.

Mode of operation

CERBOF's activities are sectioned in two main topics:

    1. Behaviour, processes and control mechanisms
    2. The building as an energy system

Calls for project proposals are made in both these sections. Projects will be co-funded upto 60 per cent by sectoral participants. Research teams as well as sectoral operators may sign up as main applicants. Project proposals will be evaluated by groups of external specialists. A clear ambition of the programme is to be connected to multinational collaborations.

The first call for proposals was made on October 3, 2007.
